Amazing How Time Changes

Welcome Home My Child

Amazing Grace has such a special meaning to me
It was one of my Grandfather's favorite hymns and
it brings back beautiful childhood memories
wonderful memories of a simple time...
a simple life...in a simple little town

It truly does amaze me how life has changed
When I was a little girl...we were not afraid to go
outside on a warm summers eve and catch lightening bugs
or play hiding ghost seek with the all neighborhood kids
or swing in the old porch laughing and giggling with
the cousins late at night until Grandmama came to shush us!
We'd still giggle...just softly and happily

Sunday was always a special day at their house
We were expected to go to sunday school and church
We loved that family time together...it was a perfect time
Everyone sat together in the family pews...we were proud
Our parents held hands and sang of Gods love together
It didn't matter whether we were in our own church
at home or at our Grandparents...we just belonged
We always felt at home in God's house

Memories of skipping home from church and running
in to greet our Grandmother who stayed behind to cook
the most wonderful family dinners
Remembering how very special she made us feel when she
made a favorite dish for each for us...we sat together
at the huge dining room table and we bowed our heads
as our grandfather prayed
He really prayed...oh how he loved the Lord
He thanked God for the food we were about to eat
and he thanked God for all of his family gathered
together safely once again

Yes it truly amazes me how much life has changed
in just a short while
I miss that feeling of being safe and loved
I miss hearing my grandfather read from the bible
and I miss the days gone by when love surrounded me
I miss my Grandparents

I know one day I will be going to that safe place again
And there my children and grandparents will be waiting
for me and yes it will still amaze me when I look into
the eyes of my Lord...to feel His arms lovingly pull me
close...to hear Him whisper gently
